Collage
I started making collages in 1976, as a means to illustrate dreams for a (very Jungian) college psychology study.

Over the years, I have moved from metaphoric-type compositions, to more impressionistic, external 'landscapes'. I am continually influenced and inspired by the beauty of Vermont's landcapes.
In terms of process: the preparation for the final gluing can be complex and pretty precise. Layers, interlocking pieces. I use pins; I use scissors, a lot; I like old wallpaper, sheet music, the NYT Magazine section, Wasps' nests, handmade papers, shiny papers, stamps and rubber stamps, detritus.
These are some words that I like/find applicable:
Balance, Grids, Pods, Repetition, Echo, Form/Space, Implication, Suggestion, Juxtaposition, Harmony, Resolution, Resonance, Surprise. And then I think (other than Grids & Pods, maybe): Who doesn't?
